Phuket eSIM: online from the airport to the beaches
Phuket pairs an airport bus to the town with a beach bus down the west coast. With the eSIM on, the ride south is on the map from the start.
- The Smart Bus beach route
- Bus 8411 to Phuket Town
- Vans to Patong, Kata and Karon

The short answer
A Phuket eSIM is installed at home before you fly and switched on when you land, with data roaming on for the line. Phuket International (HKT) is the island's airport: the Smart Bus runs from the domestic terminal down the west-coast beaches to Rawai for a flat 100 baht, and the orange 8411 bus runs to Phuket Town.

Where the signal holds
- 4G and 5G
Thailand's three networks
AIS keeps 5G pages for consumers, True describes a 5G and 4G network, and NT sells services on its 5G network.
- Not measured
Boats and bays
We have not measured signal on the water out to the islands or in the bays. Download your ferry times and a map before you board.
- Data roaming on
Your eSIM
The eSIM runs on a Thai network and shows that network's name in your phone's settings. Turn data roaming on for the eSIM line.
Practical notes
- Getting therePhuket International (HKT) has the orange 8411 airport bus to Phuket Town, with the airport listing departures from 08:15 to 20:15 and returns from 09:15 to 21:15, hourly; tickets are bought on the bus or online. Meter and electric taxis, limousines and Grab also serve the terminal.
- Getting aroundThe Smart Bus calls at Cherng Talay, Surin Beach, Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai for a flat 100 baht, the airport bus express runs to Patong Beach, and public vans serve Patong, Kata and Karon.
- PayingThe currency is the Thai baht (THB), divided into 100 satang, and the Bank of Thailand publishes the exchange rates it uses.
- When to goThe embassy profile gives Thailand's seasons as summer from March to May, the rainy season from June to October and winter from November to February, with temperatures highest in March and April and lowest in December and January.
Before you go (Phuket)
Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi and keep the line switched off until you land. Download offline maps and your tickets while you still have Wi-Fi, in case a temple or a boat trip has no signal. On arrival, switch the eSIM line on, choose it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line only.
