Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport SIM card or eSIM (BKK): land online
Suvarnabhumi has the Airport Rail Link under the terminal, buses to the city and taxis around the clock. With the eSIM installed at home, the phone is online as you walk out.
- BKK
- Airport Rail Link from Level B1
- Buses to Khao San Road
- Free shuttle to Don Mueang

The short answer
A Thailand eSIM is installed at home before you fly and switched on when you land, with data roaming on for the line. At Suvarnabhumi (BKK) the Airport Rail Link station is on Level B1, taxis wait on Level 1, and the free shuttle to Don Mueang leaves from Level 2.

Where the signal holds
- Airport Rail Link
Rail from Level B1
The station sits on Level B1 of the main terminal, and the airport gives its hours as 05:30 to 24:00.
- 4G and 5G
Thailand's three networks
AIS keeps 5G pages for consumers, True describes a 5G and 4G network, and NT sells services on its 5G network.
- Data roaming on
Your eSIM
The eSIM runs on a Thai network and shows that network's name in your phone's settings. Turn data roaming on for the eSIM line.
Practical notes
- Getting into townThe Airport Rail Link runs from Level B1, 05:30 to 24:00. Public buses leave from the Public Transportation Center: route 554 to Rangsit, route S6 (555) to Krung Thep Aphiwat and route 558 to Central Rama 2. Route S1 to Khao San Road leaves from Gate 7 on Level 1, 06:00 to 20:00.
- Taxis and pickupsTaxis wait around the clock on Level 1 between Gates 4 and 7, with a queue ticket and a 50 baht airport surcharge added to the meter. Grab picks up on Level 1 at Gate 4, on the outer kerb, and the AOT Limousine counters are on Level 2.
- PayingThe currency is the Thai baht (THB), divided into 100 satang. Banks, ATMs and exchange counters are among the airport's services, and the Bank of Thailand publishes the exchange rates it uses.
- When to goThe embassy profile sets out Thailand's seasons: summer from March to May, rain from June to October and the cool season from November to February, with the highest temperatures in March and April and the lowest in December and January.
Arrival, step by step (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi)
Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi before you fly, and keep the line switched off. After landing, turn off airplane mode, switch the eSIM line on, choose it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line only. Nothing needs collecting at a counter: the line is already in the phone. If it does not connect, restart the phone once, then work through the checks in the help pages one by one.

Buy on VietSIMQuestions
Can I get a Bangkok airport SIM card on arrival?
A SIM card is bought in person, so it means a stop after landing. The eSIM is installed at home before the flight and switched on when you land, so nothing waits at the airport.
How do I get from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang airport?
The free shuttle leaves from Level 2, Gate 3, every 30 minutes from 05:00 to 24:00; it carries travellers connecting between flights at the two airports.
